MACY CHEUNG

Cheung Wai Mei (Macy) is interested in observing the environment, surroundings and the society, like landscapes, nature and object seen daily, using art as a form to explore the emotions between the object and human within the space. She gets inspirations from the personal feeling and emotions through the changes of the city and those insignificance. Her practice reconsiders the value of those objects, while experimenting the different related materials and approaches to express the idea, and to motivate the idea expression and displaying approach.

Macy is also interested in exploring the possibilities of each media in her creations: The material itself or mixing media, like transferring ideas from chinese painting to a sculpture form. At the same time, She is a detail-oriented person. Her works have shown the details or the fine brush strokes. Apart from the details in the practice, she is recently more concerned about the life experience in the space of the city within the time changes, and she focuses on expanded the media to communication from inside to outside of the material itself.

Her series of work called “Fadeout” (2019) was selected as one of the HKBU Academy of Visual Art Studies Collection 2019. Also, it has exhibited in PMQ and the AVA BA Graduation Show 2019, also received M. Lau Award of Craftsmanship. 

Her work “Stories of an old urban district- Wan Chai” (2016) has exhibited in HKDI D-mart, APM Design Fiesta, TaiKoo Place ArtisTree, Wan Chai Artland Gallery. 

 

Macy Cheung is graduated in Bachelor of Arts in Visual Arts in Hong Kong Baptist University. Her style of work is more society and community research based on mixed media.

張惠媚感興趣於觀察身邊環境，如每天看到的風景，自然和身邊物件及社會,利用藝術的形式作為探索空間中的物體與人之間情感。通過城市的變化和那些看起來微不足道的事物，從個人感受和情感中獲得靈感。她的創作重新考慮了這些物件的價值,同時試驗了不同相關物料和方式來激發表達思想和展示方法。

她還有興趣於探索她創作中每種媒介的可能性：材料本身或混合媒介，如將中國繪畫的想法轉化為雕塑。同時,她是一個注重細節的人。 陶瓷和中國畫的作品通過精細的筆觸表現出自然氣韻。 此外，她最 近更關注隨著時間的流逝，城市空間的變化的生活體驗，她著重於從內到外擴大媒介的運用與材料本身之間的溝通。

她的一系列名為“色衰粉褪”（2019）的作品入選香港浸會大學視覺藝術研究收藏2019。它還在PMQ元創方和香港浸會大學視覺藝術院本科畢業展2019年展出，也獲得了劉月明女士工藝創作獎。

 

此外，她的作品“老城區的故事 - 灣仔”（2016）在香港知專設計學院

，觀塘Apm商場 Design Fiesta，太古坊 ArtisTree及灣仔藝林畫廊展出。

 

張惠媚畢業於香港浸會大學視覺藝術學士學位。現已獲得香港教育大學學位教師教育文憑（小學）課程，熱衷於教育。

她的創作題材關於社會和社區研究，混合媒介 。
